I have yet to trace any record of William G. Ward in the 1841 Census. However, with the assistance of Jean Jane, I have located his future wife Jane Crofts and her father, Thomas Crofts (Farmer) and mother, Dorothy Crofts living in Burton Joyce, near Nottingham. There is a record of a death of a Thomas Crofts in 1844 and in the Census of 1851 we find his widow, Dorothy and daughter Jane living in Nottinham on Carlton Street.
