George Moore - Bust now in AllHallows New Church

 George Moore busts

Marble busts of George Moore are to be found in the Mausoleum of the Old AllHallows Church where he was laid to rest after his death in Carlisle in 1876. There is also a bust of George Moore to be seen resting on a window cill of the New AllHallows Church. My understanding is that this bust originally stood on a plinth in The George Moore Memorial Hall. An elderly local resident told me that he used to, somewhat irreverently, hang his hat and coat on this bust whilst he played snooker in the Memorial Hall. There is also what I believe to be a replica bust, together with a bust of his second wife, in the Community Centre formerly the School in Fletchertown.
