Portrait of Charlotte Deans
This is said to be the only known portrait of the travelling actress Charlotte Deans nee Lowes, George Moore's mother, Peggy Lowes's first cousin. This scan was kindly provided by Mrs Jean Scott-Smith. According to a newspaper report dated February 2007, the original portrait was brought along by the owners Gillian and John Morgans to the opening night in Shap of Maureen Lawrence's play, 'Once a Lady' which is based on the Memoirs of Charlotte Deans.
